Runner

At the moment, I'm tending to paint things to be aesthetically pleasing rather than to tell a story. However, if I had to elaborate on what defines this character, I'd say it's that he likes running and maybe a bit of parkour as well. I see him as perhaps being highborn - a young prince or something.

This took an inordinately long time to draw because the process was all rather experimental and certainly very sub-optimal. The lines were drawn in Photoshop and I drew several outfits for him before settling on this design and refining the lines.

For the colours, I decided to download and try out Paint Tool SAI. So far I'm really enjoying it. The ability to paint new colour and blend existing colour with the same brush is great.

The style of illustration is influenced by some of the official art for the video game: Kingdom Hearts. I used many different reference images along the way.
